Sipan, as a lipophilic non-ionic surfactant, is widely used in pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics. Commonly used varieties in pharmaceuticals include Span 20, Span 40, Span 60, Span 65, Span 80, Span 85, etc.
Span 40 is non-toxic and non irritating. Sorbitol monopalmitate, also known as Span 40, is a light cream to brownish yellow solid in the form of beads, flakes, or wax. There is a strange odor, with a gentle taste.
Span 40 is insoluble in cold water and can be dispersed in hot water to form an emulsion solution. Can dissolve in hot oil and various organic solvents, forming an emulsion solution. The freezing point is 45-47 ℃, and the HLB value is 6.7.
